Uganda to acquire 5 million covid-19 vaccine dozes before the end of May
Uganda is working around the clock to bring in more 5million dozes of covid-19 vaccine before the end of May 2021, to enable immunization of all those who are at a high risk of succumbing to corona virus.
This was revealed by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a televised nation address on 16th April 2021. The president revealed that more 5million dozes will be purchased in addition to over nine hundred thousand dozes the country acquired in march.
Covid-19 immunization in Uganda begun in March, targeting those who are at a high risk of contracting the disease.
Below are some of the highlights of president Museveni’s address on Uganda’s Covid-19 situation
Government is cognizant that the country needs to return to normal. We have eased most restrictions in a phased manner. However, it is important that we maintain some measures that have led to the low COVID 19 cases. We will therefore maintain a curfew between 9:00pm to 5:30am.
Vaccines are the most effective intervention we have against COVID-19. The government and partners are working hard to bring vaccines to most adult Ugandans to protect them and to support us to reopen the economy and get back all our children to school.
The government will do all it can to protect people from COVID-19 and manage those who get infected. For God and My Country.
