Kadaga sworn in as 1st Deputy Prime Minister
Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga has been sworn in as the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, before President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House Nakasero.
Kadaga who is the former Speaker of Parliament was accompanied by her mother , Eva Kadaga, son Timothy Kadaga and daughter Pamela Kaudha.
Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from 19 May 2011 - 21 May 2021.
She is the first woman to be elected Speaker in the history of the Parliament of Uganda. She succeeded Edward Ssekandi, who served as Speaker from 2001 to 2011. She is also the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kamuli District Women's Constituency, Busoga sub-region, a position she has held since 1989.
