Police warns politicians planning demonstrations

The Kampala Metropolitan Police has warned the public against getting involved in planned demonstrations and riots, in and around other parts of the city.

According to the area deputy police publicist, Luke Owoyesigyire, some disgruntled politicians are allegedly planning demonstrations and riots in different parts of the city for unknown reasons, which cannot be allowed.

He said it is illegal to plan any gatherings that contravene the Ministry of Health guidelines to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

“We have received information of planned demonstrations and riots by some disgruntled politicians. It should be noted that it is illegal to plan any gatherings that contravene the Ministry of Health guidelines to prevent the spread of Coronavirus,” he noted.

He urged the planners to suspend their planned activities, stressing that police will not desist from arresting anyone who will participate in such illegal activities.

Owoyesigyire advised the planners to use other avenues to air out their grievances.
