Prime Minister Nabbanja launches the construction of Northern Uganda Cancer Centre
The Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja on 13th August broke the ground for the construction of the Northern Uganda Regional Cancer Centre in Omoro District.
This is in line with the NRM government pledge to bring cancer treatment services closer to the people.
Speaking at the ground-breaking event, Nabbanja said that Cancer is a long-time underestimated burden in Africa but now a strong focus for African governments. She added that, “this hospital is now a step towards the achievement of the goal of equal health for all”.
Nabbanja further remarked that bringing cancer services near to the people of northern region is a great achievement in improving the quality of life in the region.
The Minister of state General Duties. Hon Hannifer Kawooya said that the Minister of Health through Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) will continue to provide Cancer Care services to the country. She thanked the UCI for always ensuring that the minimal resources allocated to them are used optimally
