KISENYI RESIDENTS ACCUSE CHAIRPERSON OF TURNING HIS OFFICE INTO A DETENTION CENTER



A section of residents of Kisenyi one parish Central Zone in Kampala Central Division are up in arms against their LC 1 chairperson Charles Obboth. 

They accuse him of among others illegal arrests of residents, turning his office in the area as a detention center for his selfish interests, forcefully collecting money from poor residents for security, being involved in land wrangles, forging property agreements, connivance with land grabbers and damaging residents properties.

The whole Village was shocked on 17th November 2019, when Charles arrested a one Mukigga Kawororo and Enoka on false accusation clobbered them and later detained them illegally in his office for two days.
Nakawubi Aida one of the area resident, also alleged that she has on many occasion threatened with violence. 

About 400 residents early this year signed a petition with a litany of accusations against Charles Obboth and submitted it to the office of Resident District Commissioner (RDC).
In the previous petition they also accused him of using abusive languages to the extent of assaulting residents as well as failing to handle land cases in his jurisdiction as stipulated in the local council courts Act 2006.

President Samia Suluhu launches COVID-19 vaccination drive

  Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan received her COVID-19 vaccine in public on Wednesday, in the most decisive signal yet of a break from the policies of her late predecessor who repeatedly dismissed the threat of the pandemic.   Hassan took office after the death in March of former President John Magufuli, who had warned citizens against COVID-19 vaccines and recommended at-home remedies such as steam inhalation.   Since then, the government has changed tack: officials now call for social distancing and emphasise mask wearing in public.   In June, Tanzania also joined the global COVAX scheme for sharing vaccines with poorer nations, culminating in the delivery of its first batch of 1.06 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine last week.   "We will make sure our country has enough vaccines for those who are willing to be vaccinated," Hassan told a launch ceremony, before taking her jab in front of the cameras.   Tanzania placed
