Mabike claims Ssenyonyi doesn’t have credentials to be Nakawa east MP
Former Makindye East Member of Parliament, Mike Mabike has hit at Joel Ssenyonyi the National Unity Platform Spokesperson claiming that his credentials are lacking for him to contest as MP Nakawa east on the NUP flag.
Joel Ssenyonyi was nominated as NUP’s flag bearer for Nakawa east MP contest by the Party’s vetting committee leaving out Kenneth Kakande who most believe is a worthy candidate than Ssenyonyi.
Speaking at a local TV’s talk show, Mabike who was also left out by the NUP’s vetting committee in favour of Derick Nyenko as the party’s flag bearer for Makindye east, emphasized that most credible candidates were left out in favour of weak ones as a result of corruption and discrimination.
He gave an example of Joel Ssenyonyi, arguing that the opponent Kenneth Kakande was the better option butt Joel was only favoured because he is close to Kyagulanyi Robert the party president. ”I still insist Ssenyonyi doesn’t have the credentials to be a member of parliament”, Mabike said.
He also hinted at infiltration in the party saying that the person he was left out for is still a serving member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Mabike’s claims that the vetting process was unfair where those who scored lower marks were declared winners prompted the party to release his marks to the general public. However Mabike claims that the marks that were put in the statement were made up by Ssenyonyi adding that for him he has the accurate scores where he got 98%. He challenged the party to release the real mark sheet other than concocted statements.
The Selection of NUP flag bearers has left the party divided with some members opting to contest as independents and others to leave.
analysts beleive that most people who joined NUP are meal card politicians who joined the party in order to reach certain positions that is why they are leaving after being denied the party flag.
If Joel is not fit to be a member of parliament, then who is fit?
