NUP HAS DEVIATED FROM THE COURSE OF THE STRUGGLE – CHAMELEON
Kampala Mayor aspirant, Joseph Mayanja alias Chameleon has expressed his disappointment in the National Unity Platform (NUP) for deviating from the ‘struggle’ and turning into a business entity benefiting a few people.
While addressing journalists shortly before he was nominated at the EC Kampala district offices in Ntinda, Chameleon said that his fight is now not only against the ruling NRM but also against the so-called members of the opposition whom he says are just hiding in the struggle for their own benefits.
He said that NUP was built on People power and it is disappointing to have a few people who are being influenced by the bosses handpicking the flag bearers.
Chameleon was a few days ago denied a ticket by National Unity Platform to compete in the Kampala Lord Mayor elections.
The singer according assessments reports was among other reasons dumped for being a catholic, short of requirements which would require a Muslim at this stage to battle Erias Lukwago, another Muslim.
Many NUP members have expressed their disappointments after being denied NUP flag, citing tribalism, corruption and extortion by the party’s chief mobilizer, Fred Nyanzi.
