NUP supporters in Lira attack NBS crew
Supporters of the National Unity Platform in Lira yesterday vandalised and looted NBS TV property of the crew that was covering their presidential campaigns.
The NUP supporters stage a roadblock one of the roads in Lira town and started looting and beating the passers-by. NBS crew was called to cover what was happening however they refused saying that they are only covering Kyagulanyi and Police confrontations and nothing else.
However, a few minutes later, the NBS crew accidentally fell into the roadblock and they were beaten and their property was taken.
In response, NBS has suspended coverage of Bobi wine campaign rallies. “We, unfortunately, have to retreat from this @NUP_Ug pres. campaign trail. That attack yesterday has left me wounded, @thomas_kitimbo even worse, & our @nbstv vehicle vandalized. Back to Kampala for medical attention until further notice,” NBS journalist Daniel Lutaaya announced on twitter.
NBS has previously been blamed for deliberately refusing to capture footage of people power/NUP supporters causing chaos and concentrating on the police brutality.
However, yesterday’s incident has exposed how chaotic NUP supporters are.
