KCCA opens up ambulance service to public
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced it is opening up its ambulance services to the general public for people facing medical emergencies. The announcement was made via its social media channels on Monday.
According to KCCA, the person in need of the emergency service can get help by simply dialling 0800990000 (toll-free) or texting 0792310927, and stating their name and location. 'The emergency can be COVID-19 related or other,' the entity said in a tweet on Monday.
On June 17, President Yoweri Museveni reimposed a lockdown in Uganda, announcing a 42-day national ban on public and private transport, as well as worshipping places, bars and all non-essential services were banned.
In addition, the president announced a revision of the 9:00 pm - 5:30 am curfew hours to 7:00 pm to 5: 30am. The measures are in a bid to control the sharp rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.
