Only 894 Covid-19 patients are currently admitted in all health facilities across the country





As of July 12, there are only 894 Covid-19 patients across all medical facilities in Uganda according to the records from the ministry of health. 

On the same date, 927 Ugandans recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 63,140.


There has been a reduction in the number of Covid-19 patients in several treatment facility like the  Namboole Auxiliary Covid-19 Treatment Centre where as of Friday, the unit had 40 patients, with 20 severely ill and on oxygen.

Dr Ivan Kisule, the head of Namboole Covid-19 centre said on Friday that before the second lockdown, the facility would receive 20 patients daily but the number has since reduced to about five. 

He said with a current bed capacity of 1,200, there are plans to increase the capacity to 2,000.

However, with a few weeks to the end of the 42days lock down, new positive cases remain significantly high. Results of COVID-19 tests done on 12 July 2021 confirm 480 new cases bringing the cumulative confirmed cases are 88,674 since March 2020.

The breakdown of the new cases are: 474 Contacts and Alerts: Kampala (236) Kyotera (35) Wakiso (29) Masaka (22) Gulu (16) Kalangala (15) Mitooma (10) Buikwe (9) Bududa (8) Kagadi (8) Kabarole (8) Nebbi (7) Arua (7) Nakaseke (5) Buvuma (5) Isingiro (4) Adjumani (5) Koboko (3)Mbale (3) Namisindwa (3) Bukomansimbi (3) Kalungu (3)Rakai (2) Yumbe (2) Sironko (2) Bushenyi (2) Busia (2) Kabale (2) Kirgum (2) Mbarara (5) Mubende (1) Kanunugu (1) Mukono (1) Rubirizi (1) Lira (1) Tororo (1) Luuka (1) Moyo (2) Bunyangabu (1) Buhweju(1) 6 Truck Drivers: Mutukula (5) Malaba (1).

Ugandans are encouraged to stick to the standard operating procedures for the country to defeat this pandemic.
