Baguma Purchases New Splashy SUV
Reliable sources have confirmed to this website that UNATU’s Filbert Bates Baguma ordered for a brand new posh SUV from Be forward Company limited using the bribe money he got from the teachers strike.
The UNATU Secretary General has benefited greatly from the teachers as he has been pocketing good amounts of money from the strike, that he has garnered enough money to buy himself an extra car.
Baguma thought evidence of him receiving a bribe would be hard to come by, because he picked the money in cash from Kampala club in the company of Usher Owere Wilson on Friday 1st July at 5pm but sources came forward with evidence of a car purchase order.
Harriet, a female confidant of Owere and Baguma who was with them at the time they picked the money, shared this information with her sister who is an Arts teacher in one of the Wakiso schools.
Harriet told her sister that Baguma and Owere were handed the money in bills of 50 thousand notes.
These two gentlemen received more than the ugx700m they disclosed to their colleagues because according to Harriet, they received a lot more money which Baguma used to order for a brand new posh car, whereas Owere made plans to construct his country home in Busia.
It should be noted that it is not the first time UNATU leads a strike of this nature, in 2019 they did the same but yielded no results. Each time they end up being compromised.
George Musisi (lawyer) petitioned the constitutional court challenging salary discrimination against Arts teachers, where Baguma was named as principal witness. However Baguma wrote a letter to the court registrar saying that he was listed as witness without his consent.
He refused to show solidarity behind closed doors but was happy to get cheap popularity in front of cameras so as to get attention and bribes.
As a result, some teachers are saying they don’t need the union anymore, they want to petition parliament to find them a solution and quit trusting UNATU under the Owere and Baguma’s leadership.
According to Musasizi, a UNATU board member, he and other members are already planning on starting another teachers union leaving Owere and Baguma who have used them for selfish gains and leaving them in a worse position than they were in before the strike.
