Nandala Mafabi’s Long Courtship with the NRM Government

Hon.  Nathan Nandala Mafabi while appearing on NBS Frontline on 21st July 2022 assured Hon. Norbert Mao of their friendship that goes way back and how “certain things” cannot be mentioned on the talk show. However Hon. Mao believes Hon. Nandala is not being honest with himself or the public.

Hon. Nandala and Hon. Mao were both courted by the ruling NRM government for a long time, until Norbert put his personal agendas aside and showed his willingness to work with Government which did not sit well with Hon. Mafabi.

Hon. Mafabi criticized this move by his longtime colleague to join and work with government.

Hon. Moa took to twitter to show disappointment with his colleague hinting on the fact that many opposition leaders have a lot to hide.

”I feel very insulted by Hon. Nandala Mafabi. I am a man of integrity and I have never been sighted in any monkey deals. If I was to say everything I know about people in opposition some people would be hiding,” tweeted Hon. Mao.

One would wonder what the DP President General was talking about and sources close to the two have revealed that he was referring to the fact Nandala has always coveted working with the government but his demands have never been met by the government like Mao’s were.   

Hon. Miria Matembe said Nandala is two faced and he has always lobbied for the post of Governorship, and if given the post would not look back and leave FDC fast.

Recently, while on the talk show Ofwono Opondo brought up the Governorship issue again and Nandala said if the post were to be made available to him, he would take it up since he has qualifications.

Hon. Nandala has worked with the ruling NRM government from the time he was the Leader of Opposition in parliament, where he slowly but surely fished for NRM most of his Members including, Hon. Anita Among, Hon Thomas Tayebwa, The late Hon. John Butime, Hon. Kibanzanga Christopher, Hon. Edmound Ariko, Mr. Moses Kisolo who was a personal assistant to Nandala amongst others.

A source in FDC who had asked not to be named revealed that, Hon. Nandala sought audience with the President through former Principal Private secretary Molly Kamukama at Kisozi to discuss and lobby for juicy position for himself.

During the 2019-independence day celebrations in Sironko, Nandala welcomed and hosted Museveni, even when they had passed a resolution barring its members from attending events presided over by the President, Nandala one of the drafters of the resolution was seen standing at the queue cheerful welcoming the President an act that angered many party officials who said he had to face the disciplinary committee for violating a party resolution.

During a talk show on NBS Frontline, Nandala said the opposition is very unreliable because many parties have become a household for Museveni agents and applauded him by stating that by 2021 there will be no opposition and he is doing it using opposition to dwindle opposition.

Nandala criticized the move by Hon. Mao to join the government not because he thought it was wrong, but because he has wanted to work with NRM for a longtime but his demands have not yet been met.

Hon. Nandala has time and time again proven to be double sided and only the position of Governorship will show his true colors.

First batch of Afghan refugees to arrive in Uganda on Sunday

The Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, Eng Hilary Onek, has confirmed that the first batch of asylum seekers from Afghanistan will arrive in Uganda on Sunday. Onek was appearing on a local radio station talk show when he revealed that the first flight will carry about 140 people. He said subsequent flights will then follow. He said the Afghan nationals will not be treated as refugees since they are in transit to the US. They will not be taken to refugee settlement areas. They will, therefore, be accommodated at various hotels in Entebbe before being processed for their final destination.   Early this week, it was revealed that  Uganda agreeing to host about 2,000 Afghan nationals at the request of the US. Although they were expected to arrive on Wednesday, the government said modalities were still being worked out before the first batch could land at Entebbe International Airport. BOBI WINE SECRETLY ACQUIRES A LAVISH MANSION IN US

Uganda’s musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine has bought a luxurious Bungalow, Cottage located in 20 Ford St, Boston, MA 02128 in USA. According to leaked information the rare, extraordinary, and classic mansion is said to be worth USD $6,900,000. The US trip follows Bobi Wine’s loss to President Yoweri Museveni who garnered 58% of the votes compared to Bobi Wine's 35% in the January 14 presidential election. Panic at NUP as Mathias Mpuuga calls for a retreat without Kyagulanyi’s authorization.

There is brewing tension in the national unity platform leadership after the party’s vice president for Buganda region making a move which many believe is the beginning of usurping powers from the party’s president, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi. Today the Mathias Mpuuga called a presser and announced that NUP will be going into a three day retreat next week where they will choose a candidate for speaker and deputy speaker of the 11 th parliament. However, according to National Unity Platform MP elect (names withheld),   the real reason behind the retreat is for Mathias Mpuuga to declare himself as the Leader of Opposition in the next parliament without the clearance of the party president Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi.
