Beret off: Kyagulanyi unveils his campaign portrait
The National Unity Platform flag bearer in the 2021 presidential contest Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has unveiled his official campaign portrait where he surprisingly appears without his renown red beret.
The portrait was unveiled today at National Unity Platform headquarters in Kamwokya.
Kyagulanyi had printed posters where he had appeared with the red beret and all NUP flag bearers on all elective positions appear with the beret on thier campaign posters. However, recently police warned them against using the beret since it was gazzeted by the UPDF.
The NUP leaders led by Kyagulanyi insisted on using the beret and encouraged thier candidates to continue using them which prompted a raid on NUP offices in a joint security operation that was targeting civilians in illegal possession of military like attire.
Kyagulanyi taking off the beret has come as a surprise to his followers who had thought he was defiant of the Police order. Others have been angered by his new campaign portrait saying that he hoodwinked them into using the beret yet he has put it down.
