DP BLOC MEMBERS TO QUIT NUP AFTER BEING DENEID PARTY FLAG

Majority of the DP Bloc members who had recently joined the National Unity Platform(NUP) are set to quit the party after not being nominated as party flag bearers in the different constituencies they were hoping to represent in parliament and other levels of leadership.

These members include Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku former DP party presidential aspirant, former Makindye east MP Mike Mabike, Former Democratic Party Spokesperson Kenneth Paul Kakande, former Democratic Party national organising secretary Sulaiman Sserwadda Kidandala, Joseph Mayanja former DP mobilizer among others.

The dumped leaders say NUP has opted for inexperienced, unpopular and incompetent leaders Like Joel Ssenyoyi, Muhamad Ssegirinya among others which has made them feel belittled and disrespected for they are more capable of bringing tangible change to the struggle than the selected flag bearers.

They also allege that those who were given the party flag are either friends to the Party leaders especially Robert Kyagulanyi or they bribed their way through.

However the top leadership of NUP says, several members of the DP bloc who recently joined NUP are meal card politicians who do not believe in the values of the party, but they’re interested in using the party to gain positions for personal gains.

Prior to the nomination exercise, Joel Ssenyonyi the NUP spokesperson had told off DP bloc members that if they were not comfortable with him running as an MP, they should go back to their failed party DP.

The DP bloc members have resolved to leave NUP and run as independents adding that NUP is not a serious party as they expected but a business for a few.

  1. This explains it all. All those chaps are running to NUP to enjoy short time fruits of the trending NUP party as a result of the excitement its created. They are self seekers. if they feel they can do a better job individually they can go back to their parties or run as independent.
