NUP CAME TO FIGHT BESIGYE AND FDC – KATO LUBWAMA
Lubaga South Member of Parliament Hon. Kato Lubwama has alleged that the National Unity Platform (NUP) was formed to weaken other opposition political parties especially the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Kizza Besigye who was enjoying the support of the youth mostly in Kampala metropolitan Region.
Lubwama was speaking in an interview with a local TV station following the denial of NUP flag to several opposition bigwigs who had joined the party recently to mount pressure on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
He said that he had prior knowledge that the NUP was set to humiliate Besigye supporters and sympathizers who had joined in hop of being given party flags adding that NUP is an anti-Besigye party that’s why most of his sympathizers have not been nominated as party flag bearers.
Lubwama wondered why experienced politicians who have spent time in the ‘struggle’, allowed themselves to be vetted and humiliated by kids who have just joined politics like David Rubongoya the NUP’s secretary general.
He called upon all the experienced politicians who have been denied NUP flag to join him and contest as independents and leave NUP to Bobi wine and his family members.
