Ssegirinya denied bail after his lawyers failing to agree on how to proceed



Kawempe North MP - elect, Muhammad Ssegirinya who is a member of the National Unity Platform(NUP), has today appeared before Buganda Road Court Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu via video link for hearing of his bail application.

Ssegirinya was last month remanded to Kitalya prison on charges of inciting violence after he was arrested leading a violent protest downtown Kampala.

Court has today remanded him again to jail till 15th April 2021 after defence lawyers said they were not ready to proceed with the hearing because they didn't get the intended evidence. Bail application hearing was also adjourned to 15th.

Hearing of the bail application flopped as two of his lawyers failed to agree on how to proceed, which prompted Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu to remand him further

Ssegirinya is known for inciting violence via social media on his official Facebook page ‘Muhammad Ssegirinya Updates’. However last month he decided to lead the protests physically but he was arrested immediately by police.

He has also been accused of using falsified academic documents a case that will see him thrown out of parliament was proved quality.
