Mao apologizes to church over people power’s attack on the late Archbishop Lwanga

Democratic Party President Hon. Norbert Mao has apologised to Uganda’s Catholic church over social media attacks on the late Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga which were done by   opposition politicians especially members of the National Unity Platform(NUP)/ People Power.

During the 2020/2021 presidential campaigns, members of the National Unity platform accused Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga of conspiring to poison their presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi.

This followed millions of abuses pelted at the Archbishop by members of the NUP and their leaders did not come out to restrain them which clearly indicated that they had sanctioned the abusing.

While appearing on UBC’s ‘behind the headlines’ talk show last night, Mao wondered why NUP leaders are now praising the man of God after passing yet they sanctioned abuses against him when he was still alive.

He apologised to the church on behalf of politicians. “On behalf of politicians I need to apologize to the church. Politicians in opposition and the so called forces of change were not kind to the late Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga”, Mao said.

Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga was on 3rd April found dead in his bedroom, a day after participating in the way of the cross. He will be buried today inside Rubaga Cathedral.
