President Museveni flags off the construction of two roads in Apac.

President Yoweri Kaguta Tubuhaburwa Museveni has today 21st October, flagged off the construction of two roads in Apac district which are, the Rwenkunye—Apac road (90.9kms) and Apac-Lira—Puranga road (100.1kms).

The Government of Uganda is undertaking these projects with support of the Islamic Development Bank.

According to the President, these roads will increase connectivity in the region, facilitate trade and help exploit the agricultural opportunities in the area.

The President also revealed that the road from Tororo all the way to Kamdini, will be done afresh. “We now have a lot of traffic headed to South Sudan using this road. It will be made stronger and wider. It will become a four-lane road, 18 metres wide with walkways,” Museveni remarked.

Uganda’s road network has greatly improved under the NRM government with tarmac roads stretching from boarder to boarder and this has been one the greatest achievement of the ruling government.

Uganda also intends to extend the good road network to her neighbors like Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan in order to boost regional trade.

In related development, President Museveni also revealed that his government is set to construct another astonishing bridge like the one in Jinja. “We are also designing a cable-stayed bridge at Masonville port like the one of Jinja,” he remarked.

He added that, among the many plans and as the country’s revenue improves, more of these projects will be executed.  The Government will construct more roads like the one from Dokolo to Namasale to the lake, shortening the distance between Lango, Nakasongola and Kampala and in the future, we shall have a road from Soroti- Obalanga- Amudat- Acholi-Pi.
