Nambooze to lead protests in Mukono to prove she's L.O.P worthy

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Betty Nambooze is set to lead protests during the Easter week in a bid to  prove her boss the leader of NUP that she can lead the struggle and therefore worthy of being appointed Leader of Opposition (LOP).

In conjunction with a section of National Unity Platform (NUP) leaders in Greater Mukono plans are underway to cause chaos and mayhem starting from Mukono to Kampala ahead of this Easter week.

According to reliable sources, Hon. Betty Nambooze, and the LCV Elect, Abdullah Mulyamwanyi Kiwanuka have been mobilizing their supporters to join them in their planned demonstration dubbed ’’People’s Court’’ .

Fears of further violence grew when NUP leaders vowed that they would take to the streets, to reclaim their presidential victory exerting the last real leverage they have over political talks.

According to a  security source privy with the violent plan, Abdullah Mulyamwanyi Kiwanuka met several youths from villages of Walusubi, Kabende, Bugoma, Buikwe and Kayunga in Mukono District at a certain Hotel names withheld for security reasons after their press address.

It should be noted that Hon Betty Nambooze has the lowest chances of being appointed LOP competing against more capable leaders like Medard Ssegona and Mathius Mpuuga. Analysts believe she is trying to use demonstrations to resurrect her political mileage and relevance at the expense of the struggling Ugandans.
Some of the residents have reacted angrily after hearing the news of the planned protests.

Kasule Michael a resident of Mukono Municipality said political opportunist should know that after Covid -19 locked down  the world over, the economy out here is not all that good, and Ugandans are struggling to make sure they pay school fees, rent and putting food on their table and  therefore have not time to waste in aim less cheap politics.

Kisakye a street vendor in Mukono said, while some MPs are earning their monthly salary of over 30 million, the rest of Ugandans like hawkers, market vender’s farmers among others in urban centers are faced with the duty to overcome the hard economic challenges.

In the wake of the planned demonstrations over 220 faith leaders from 45 districts in Uganda met at Imperial Royale Hotel and pleaded for calm in a country weary of tension. They said that people lost lives violence against children was at the peak properties were destroyed and companies in the country have suffered big losses during the previous turmoil.

Security has warned the public against involvement in violence which undermines the development of the country and vowed to deal with culprits.
