Kampala residents point out wrongdoers planning havoc ahead of Museveni’s swearing in




Residents of Kampala city have called on security to deal with a group of individuals who are mobilising people to carryout riots ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing in slated 12th May 2021.

According to the residents, a group led by Rubaga North MP elect Abubaker Kawalya who is also a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), is recruiting youth and equipping them with tires and petrol bombs which they will use to block roads and burn fuel stations as they  protests Museveni’s swearing in.

A one Ssentongo a resident of Kawempe said that, Abubaker Kawalya, Nusifa Nakato, Ssewanyana Nelson also known as Niga2 who hails from Rubaga, Kazinga Ssenene, Kagwa Vincent and Bukenya Moses have been mobilising youth from Kawempe and other Kampala suburbs to participate in riots.

“My son together with other youths were called for a meeting at Rammings hotel Balintuma road where they met the people mentioned above. They gave them some little money and promised them more if they participate in riots,” Ssentongo said.

Namaganda, a street vendor in Kampala said that she was approached by Nussifa Nakato to mobilise her fellow street vendors to participate in the planned riots.

Nussifah has also been accused of paying women to stage-manage stories accusing security agencies of brutalising them.

The Police and UPDF have warned Ugandans to desist from engaging themselves in any kind of lawlessness.  The UPDF warned that they will deal decisively with anyone who tries to destabilise Uganda.
