Peoples’ Defence Forces and Maama Janet Museveni. The
President is received by:

• H.E the President proceeds to the Saluting Dais
• Presidential Salute
• National Anthem (concurrently with lowering of the Presidential Standard Flag)

• H.E the President takes his seat
SWEARING-IN PROCEDURE:
• The Director of Ceremonies takes over:
• Chairperson of the Electoral Commission is invited by the Director of Ceremonies
to proceed to the Swearing-in Podium.
• The Chairperson Electoral Commission invites the President-Elect to proceed to
the Swearing-in Podium
• H.E the President proceeds to the Swearing -in Podium
• The Chairperson, Electoral Commission introduces the President-Elect to the
Nation.
• The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission invites His Lordship the Chief Justice
to proceed to the Swearing-in Podium to administer the Oath of Allegiance and
the Oath of President to the President-Elect.
• His Lordship the Chief Justice, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to
Cabinet and the Chief Registrar proceed to the Swearing-in Podium.
• The Chairperson, Electoral Commission resumes his seat.
• The Chief Registrar presents the Bible and the Oath of Allegiance to the
President-Elect
• The President-Elect takes the Oath of Allegiance.
• The Chief Registrar presents the Oath of President to the President-Elect
• The Chief Registrar takes the Bible away from the President-Elect.
• The Chief Registrar guides the President-Elect where to sign on the Oath of
Allegiance and the Oath of the President. (Fanfare by the Band while signing)
• The Chief Registrar guides the Chief Justice where to sign on the Oath of
Allegiance and Oath of the President.
• The Chief Registrar presents, one by one, the Instruments of Power of the
Republic of Uganda to the Chief Justice;
i. The Constitution.
ii. The National Flag.
iii. The Presidential Standard Flag.
iv. The National Anthem.
v. The National Court of Arms and
vi. The Public Seal.
• Chief Justice hands-over, one by one, the Instruments of Power of the Republic of Uganda to the President.
• Chief of Defense Forces hands over the Instruments of National Defense to H.E the President and Commander in Chief.
• The Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet receives, one by one the Instruments of Power of the Republic of Uganda from H.E the President for custody.
• The Director of Ceremonies requests His Lordship the Chief Justice, The Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet; and the Chief Registrar to resume their seats
• H.E the President proceeds to the Saluting Dias.
• H.E the President takes the Presidential Salute while the parade adopts the Alfa Formation, concurrent with the rising of the Flag and a 21 Gun Salute.
• H.E the President inspects the Guard of Honour.
• H.E the President takes his seat
• The Director of Ceremonies congratulates H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni upon his assumption of the highest Office in the land, and calls on the Religious Leaders to pray for the blessing of both the President’s new term of Office and the Nation.
