Police intercepts truck ferrying passengers from Kampala to Mbarara
Police has intercepted a box-body truck ferrying people from Kampala to Mbarara which is contrary to the lockdown rules which are currently existing.
This has been revealed by the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire.
“Our Police at Nabingo has today afternoon intercepted a motor vehicle UBJ 803P. Upon search, 14 people were found inside the vehicle,” Owoyesigire remarked.
He added that “When we interrogated the suspects they have informed police that the driver was taking them to Mbarara District and charging the between 50k and 100k. They are currently detained at Nsangi Police station”.
On June 18 President Yoweri Museveni issued Covid-19 preventive measure which barred inter-district movements for non essential workers in a bid to curb the spread of the disease.
