PETROL BOMB ATTACKS: A letter to my Man Utd fan from Hoima; Childhood friend and ardent follower of current issues
Hey Buddy, it is been a long time, do you still play ball? I heard that leaders over there are doing everything they can to ensure you all are safe. Hoima is lucky to have such caring and hardworking leaders. Be safe.
Over the weekend, terror befell Uganda as a bomb went off at a pork joint in Komaboga where one person died immediately and others rushed to hospital in critical conditions. This blew the minds of Ugandans as everyone was in disbelief and shock.
The scare was eased by the football match between Manchester United and Liverpool on Sunday which created a light moment as Arsenal fans were busy sharing memes ridiculing Man U for being generous to Liverpool with a loss-tune of five to nil. It was such an evening of merry!
The Merry was cut short as another petrol bomb went off in a swift safaris bus at Lungala along Masaka highway killing one on spot and injuring quite a number.
The Islamic state later acknowledged that it was behind the attacks but some Ugandans refuse to accept the facts and insist it is the government planting the bombs. Is the government the one that is also responsible for the loss of Manchester United? Then Manchester United fans in Uganda should be investigated and tell us why they got angry and blew up innocent lives.
It is too sad that some of our fellow Ugandans think like this. While we should be looking out for each other we are instead crucifying the government instead of going to the Wembley twitter handle and call for the sucking of Ole Gunna so that Cristiano Ronaldo can be put to a better use on the pitch. This will save the team from Arsenal fan’s social media harassments.
Away from the soccer buddy, just ask yourself why would someone that advocates for peace, unity and transformation for prosperity want to jeopardize his beliefs and something that he has fought so hard to achieve, all for curfew? I think we should stop involving security issues in the Arsenal versus Manchester United games.
I never played soccer when we were young, I only watched and cheered you and our playmates called me you girlfriend. Don’t let our friendship die but allow me jumpstart your memory on some of the very many things that have been done.
Hoima district and security forces have developed guidelines for residents to prevent terror attacks, the RCC of Fort portal Rogers Mbabazi this morning on 27th October 2021 started to sensitize people at the bus terminal.
Security Minister Rtd. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi came out on live television to talk to the people of Uganda on what security is doing to ensure that Ugandans are safe. Is that really nothing? The Police spent yesterday 26th October 2021 making the public aware of the danger. I guess Man U was not warned of Salah, lol!
Here is one thing I know about security agencies, they do not operate like market places. It takes a process. Releasing certain kind of information would disrupt investigation so if they choose to hold it back it is for the good of the country. Let us learn to trust that the country is in good hands and that at the right time we shall get know what we ought to know.
