Kagadi District Receives Ugx338M for Ebola Management
The Ministry of Health has released Ugx338M to the Kagadi district Ebola Taskforce as a response to help curb the Spread of Ebola Viral Disease (EVD).
According to Kagadi district communication officer George Gulyetonda, the money released will be used by the Ebola taskforce in the management for the disease.
“The money will be used by the Ebola Taskforce in risk communication, facilitating health workers, case management and surveillance to curb the spread of Ebola in Kagadi district,” he said.
Paul Bahizi, the district surveillance officer also said that they are presently monitoring three suspects who presented symptoms similar to those of EVD.
“We have picked samples and sent them to Uganda Virus Research Institute for testing,” Bahizi said.
The district LCV Chairperson Yosia Ndibwami said they had requested for Ugx.1B from the Government to help fight Ebola but the Ministry of Health has only managed to allocate Ugx338M.
The district has established an Ebola treatment unit at Kagadi General Hospital.
Kagadi is one of the districts battling the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak after a 23 year old man who succumbed to the virus last month.
