Kassanda Police Impounds 300 Motorcycles for Defying Lockdown Directives
A total of 300 motorcycles have been impounded by police in Kassanda District for violating the lockdown directives.
According to Phoebe Namulindwa the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the motorcycles were confiscated by security personnel while enforcing the President’s directives and they are presently kept at the police stations.
“All the boda-boda that have been impounded so far with be released after the 21-day lockdown. The boda-boda that were impounded were violating the directive of the President,” Namulindwa said.
“I want people to understand and acknowledge that some of us still do not understand that we at war that there is a virus that need not to spread in the country,” she added.
Namulindwa demised claims of alleged extortion against the police personnel and challenged the boda-boda riders to present evidence.
On Saturday 15th October, President Museveni declared a 21-day lockdown in Mubende and Kassanda districts. He restricted the movements in and out of the districts as a measure to curb the spread of Ebola Virus disease (EVD).
“Public transportation, private transportation and boda-bodas cannot move within the districts, only government vehicles are to move,” President Museveni said.
