“That’s P.7 politics!”: Ugandans admonish Bobi Wine for refusing to greet Rt Hon Nabanjja

Several Ugandans have come out to condemn NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine for displaying his terrible and contemptible character after he arrogantly refused to greet the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabanjja but went ahead to greet other political leaders. In a video trending on social media, Kyagulanyi is seen deliberately
shunning a genuine handshake from the Prime Minister as he greeted mourners before taking his seat after arriving late.

This was on Monday 21st November 2022, during the send-off of former DP president Ssemwogerere in Nkumba.

However, this act has caused an uproar in the public especially on social media claiming that such manners were not necessary to be displayed especially at such a gathering.

Some members of the public came out to condone the act stating that from the Buganda cultural norms point of view, such manners are detested and despised when it comes to funerals and burials.

“For us the Baganda, when it comes to a gathering where people are mourning, one must treat everyone with utmost respect no matter your political or social differences. What that gentleman did was a show of what we call ‘Empisa envundu’ (rotten manners) here in Buganda,” said Muwanga Abdul.

Some have also come out to condemn his intolerant character which they labelled amateurish in nature which they do not expect from a leader and an inspiration to youth in central Uganda.

“I think this is amateur politics similar to that of P.7 children. When you do such a thing as a leader then we start to wonder what type of leadership you are making if you cannot tolerate those who you disagree with and on top of that, you go ahead to put it on public display at such a gathering,” said Kavuma, one of the mourners present at the burial.

Bobi Wine, NUP and the entire red camp have been constantly accused of upholding unpleasant manners, advancing intolerant and hatred politics citing,  examples among others the Zaake incident in September when the Mityana Municipality MP publicly threw a way an envelope containing contribution from one of his invited guests Speaker Anita Among.
