AFRICA'S OPPOSITION MORE ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAN ON GROUND

Many opposition politicians in African countries have developed a tendency of concentrating on getting social media hype thus neglecting the ground or rural areas where the incumbents and candidates of the ruling parties get much of their support from.
 
In Sub Sahara Africa, people on social media are mostly from urban area thus the platform leaves out the biggest percentage of people who are in rural setting
 
Social media hype has put false confidence in most opposition politicians which makes them go into contestations knowing that they have the support of the majority  but the results show other ways.

This is one of the major reasons why these opposition politicians never accept the outcomes of the elections because they be expecting landslide victories depending on the overwhelming support they're shown via social media. 

The opposition forgets that the people who keep on praising them on social media hardly vote, the real voters are the people in rural areas who opposition neglects.

In Uganda the leading opposition Political party FDC appears to be the most popular basing on social media traffic but election results always show the opposite. In the recently concluded Local council elections where voting was done by lining behind the candidate of your choice, FDC managed to get only 5% of the seats a clear indication of how they're not on ground.

In Zimbabwe the leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) alliance has also received a lot  of hype on social media and online news portals from allover Africa and his fans are already announcing his victory via social media even before the ZEC announces the results. But according to the ZEC the provisional results put Mnangagwa in the leading position,
