Details of What caused the death of Archbishop Lwanga

Kampala diocese Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga was on Saturday found dead in his bedroom on Saturday morning, a day after participating in the way of the cross.

There has been alot of speculations about the cause of his death, fuelled by  opposition politicians in Uganda who were taking advantage of the circumstance to enhance thier blame game.

However,  a postmortem report that has been released by the diocese  indicated that Lwanga suffered ischemic heart disease leading to coronary artery thrombosis.

Ischemic means that an organ (e.g., the heart) is not getting enough blood and oxygen. Ischemic heart disease, also called coronary heart disease (CHD) or coronary artery disease, is the term given to heart problems caused by narrowed heart (coronary) arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Although the narrowing can be caused by a blood clot or by constriction of the blood vessel, most often it is caused by buildup of plaque, called atherosclerosis. When the blood flow to the heart muscle is completely blocked, the heart muscle cells die, which is termed a heart attack or myocardial infarction (MI).

According to Lwanga's  personal doctor Andrew Sekitoleko, the Archbishop  suffered a blood clot in one of the arteries leading to the heart.
