President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has held an interactive meeting with newly elected NRM and NRM leaning Members of Parliament from western Uganda.
The interactive session was held at the sidelines of the NRM retreat which is currently underway at the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi.
President Museveni revealed that the session was meant for chatting out ways that will foster social economic development in the western region. "Meeting newly elected MPs from Western Region on the sidelines of the NRM Leadership retreat in Kyankwanzi. We discussed a number of issues, especially those pertaining to wealth creation, and social-economic development."
Western Uganda largely relays on agriculture as the major economic activity. NRM will be availing measures and mechanisms that will help farmers improve on thier productivity as well as economic well-being.
Museveni is currently meeting Members of Parliament in clusters of the regions where they hail from. He started with Buganda and Karamoja regions.
According to the NRM Director of communication, Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, the organised meetings with the President are meant to help the members of parliament to discuss issues affecting their people without diverting the purpose of the retreat.
The NRM is currently holding a three weeks retreat at Kyankwanzi NALI, of the newly elected Members of Parliament to guide them on the NRM ideological principles as wells strategizing on the implementation of the 2021-2026 NRM manifesto.
