A section of members from the National Unity Platform (NUP) has pledged to put aside their political differences and work with President Yoweri Museveni to serve the interests of their people.
Museveni met the NUP coordinators and members at state house Entebbe where they expressed their views on what the NRM hasn’t delivered yet to their people.
The President appreciated their views on the different failures of the NRM, and assurance them that they will work together to address such challenges.
The NUP presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi lost the January 14 presidential elections to the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni. Museveni’s party the NRM also won most seats in parliament and local government which makes it necessary for any opposition leader who is willing to serve his people to work with it.
The public has welcomed the idea of the leading opposition party negotiating with the ruling party to improve service delivery and fix leadership gaps.
President Museveni is known for working with individuals from opposition political parties who come up with genuine ideas for the development of the country. Several Ministers in Museveni’s cabinet are members of opposition political parties in Uganda like the Democratic Party, Uganda People's Congress and the Forum for Democratic Change.
