Kyagulanyi's attempt to block Ugandans from getting US.$ 1 billion from IMF fails

Earlier this month, National Unity Platform leader Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and his cohorts in USA and Europe had written to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) asking it to block 1 billion dollars Uganda had requested for to deal with Covid-19 and the impact the pandemic has had on the country's economy.

In his request Kyagulanyi shamelessly noted that he was the elected President of Uganda and he is  the one who should be requesting and getting the money.

"I beseech you and the entire management of the International Monetary Fund to decline approving the proposed $1 billion ECF to Uganda due to the fact that the Ugandan regime is now considered illegitimate by my supporters ", Kyagulanyi wrote.

Kyagulanyi also went ahead in an interview with CNN and via social media calling upon western countries not aid Ugandans with any money be it vaccines as the country battles the second wave of Covid-19.

This left many Ugandans wondering whether Kyagulanyi was happy seeing Ugandans dying from Covid-19.

However the IMF has ignored Kyagulanyi ridiculous claims and extended 1billion dollars to Uganda to deal with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy.

"On June 28, 2021, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a 36-month arrangement under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) for Uganda in an amount equivalent to SDR722 million (200 percent of quota or about US$1 billion) to support the post-COVID-19 recovery and the authorities' plan to increase households' incomes and inclusive growth by fostering private sector development," reads a statement by IMF in parts.
