Prime Minister Nabbanja to update Parliament on Government’s progress in the fight against Covid-19
The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, will today, Wednesday update Parliament on progress so far made by the government in tackling COVID-19 in Uganda.
Nabbanja, who is also the leader of government business, is slated to address the House at 2:00pm. The activity set for Wednesday's plenary has been allocated 45 minutes, according to the order paper.
New COVID-19 infections in Uganda dropped on Tuesday, falling from 479 to 438. This brought the total cumulative COVID infections to 88,194 in the country, an update from the ministry of health, said.
The ministry also indicated that recoveries from the virus now stand at 62,213of which 909 were recorded in a 24-hour period.
However, the update shows that deaths attributed to virus in 24-hours increased from 25 to 35, which is a significant increase considering that the total 24-hour fatality count as of Sunday was only 14! In addition, the positivity rate also increased slightly from 9.3 percent to 11.3 percent.
Hospital admissions were 987 while the total number of people that have so far been vaccinated in Uganda is now 1,076,923.
A drop in the cases has been attributed to the 42days lockdown which will be ending in just over two weeks. However, the number of cases is still significantly high and more efforts are needed to defeat the pandemic.
