“There is completely no Kamwokya”: NUP wars deepen as Kamwokya faction in hot seat over vandalism, Kibalama suspended

Yesterday, Tuesday 21st June 2022, Moses Kibalama Nkonge, the acting NUP party president unveiled the new NUP offices in Kabowa and was later suspended from the party.

During an appearance on a local TV station, NUP spokesperson Gideon Tugume, said that Kibalama had been suspended for violating party rules and signing fake documents to hand NUP over to Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine without party consent.

Tugume insists that the NUP headquarters are in Kabowa, Lubaga and have never shifted to Kamwokya.

“There is completely no Kamwokya. At no point did the party sanction the transaction between Kibalama and Kyagulanyi,” said the party spokesperson.

Tugume continued to say that the memorandum that the Kamwokya faction has is illegal and not recognized by the law.

“As long as the party is concerned, that memorandum of understanding is illegal. Kyagulanyi came and duped his uncle Kibalama,” he said.

The suspension of Kibalama came after a committee of 11 NUP elected leaders and decided that he acted contrary to party rules and regulations.  The secretary general of the party, Paul Ssimbwa Kagombe was also suspended from the party for fraudulent deals.

Joel Ssenyonyi the Kamwokya faction spokesperson released a presser yesterday calling the on the public to treat the other NUP faction with contempt and referring to them as masqueraders.

The NUP spokesperson continued to say that Ssenyonyi will appear before NUP disciplinary committee next week.  Stating that he has no right to call the party owners masqueraders.

After the presser was released by Joel, NUP headquarters in Kabowa were vandalized last evening by the Kamwokya NUP faction supporters.
