The national Unity Platform and its President Bobi Wine cannot speak against homosexuality and take sides for fear of losing one of their main sources of funds advanced to them from the Rainbow Group—San Francisco, a gay group based in the US—monthly.
According to the National Unity Platform income and expenditure statement for the month of February, NUP receives a monthly payment of Ugx50 million from the gay rainbow group to finance operations activities and support its president, his wife, and the secretary general’s office.
“Kyagulanyi spends Ugx 198.5 million, his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi Ugx 55 million, and the office of the secretary general receives and spends Ugx 81 million, which is spent on fuel, travel, and entertainment,” reads the statement.
The NUP president has remained tight-lipped on matters concerning the homosexuality bill, even after many Ugandans repeatedly asked him to state his stand on different social media platforms.
However, from the income and expenditure statement, Ugandans need to understand that Bobi Wine will be affected financially should he pronounce himself on the homosexuality vice; he can only maintain his silence to protect his partnership with the group.
