President Museveni to officially open NRM retreat today



President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson is expected to officially open the retreat for the newly elected NRM party Members of Parliament at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi today.

 

According to the party Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba, Museveni will on Thursday morning address the party legislators who have been at the institute since 8th April.

“The MPs have been learning about the NRM principle for the past one week but tomorrow he will officially open the retreat. We shall put much emphasis on economic transformation and how to implement the NRM manifesto for 2021- 2026,”Lumumba said.

Lumumba revealed that NRM will also have retreats with party LC5 chairmen and sub-county chairmen to teach them the ideology.

 

Whereas the speakership race and debate had kicked off, especially between the incumbent, Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah, President Museveni recently put a stop to the campaigns for the position.

 

The deputy NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong earlier this month said the issue of speakership will not be part of the agenda at Kyankwanzi.

 

“The core objective for the retreat is to ideologically re-orient the NRM leadership to enable them refocus on the socio-economic transformation of Uganda within the broader context of the survival of the African race given the current global pressures and challenge,” he said.

    My comment goes to our beloved NRM National party Chairman H.E Y T K MUSEVENI and our beloved General party Secretary Madam JUSTINE KASULE LUMUBA as Request to Remember we the NRM party mobilisers as party pressure group leaders who really sacrificed our selves without facilitations but only with love of the party and our party Chairman we invested in our own money to see that we as NRMs retain our victory always to remain in power Therefore my humble Request is that let H.E and S.G of NRM party Remember some of us leaders and include us in kyangwanzi For attaininga course of POLITICAL science and Ideological reorrietation of social economic science to transform ugandans froma poor society to a prosperous society as we prepare our way of vision 2026-2040 of NRM party .

President Museveni Commissions the refurbished Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira

  President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on October 21, 2020 commissioned the refurbished Uganda Martyrs Cathedral of Lira Diocese. The president congratulated the Christians of Lira diocese on the milestone, achieved as they mark their Golden Jubilee.   “We must thank God that 50 years later, Uganda is now peaceful with freedom of worship as one of the liberties enjoyed minus restriction. First batch of Afghan refugees to arrive in Uganda on Sunday

The Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, Eng Hilary Onek, has confirmed that the first batch of asylum seekers from Afghanistan will arrive in Uganda on Sunday. Onek was appearing on a local radio station talk show when he revealed that the first flight will carry about 140 people. He said subsequent flights will then follow. He said the Afghan nationals will not be treated as refugees since they are in transit to the US. They will not be taken to refugee settlement areas. They will, therefore, be accommodated at various hotels in Entebbe before being processed for their final destination.   Early this week, it was revealed that  Uganda agreeing to host about 2,000 Afghan nationals at the request of the US. Although they were expected to arrive on Wednesday, the government said modalities were still being worked out before the first batch could land at Entebbe International Airport.
