A letter to the Desperate Ugandan Youths; Desperate Youth attempt to mislead EU on Realities in Uganda remains futile

Dear Desperate Ugandan Youth,

I have seen a copy of your emails to the European Union attempting to discredit and blackmail the Uganda government by making false alarms about it.

Your attempt to threaten Uganda's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg H.E Mirjam Blaak Sow, is a childish move.

In your mail, you remarked that you are too tired and disappointed of how the EU continues to disregard the suffering of Ugandans despite the country being part of the European Union.

You also allege that there is continued torture, kidnap, and murder on free cards in Uganda. You claim that ambassadors who met NUP members were shocked by what is happening in Uganda.

You want the EU countries to expel Amb Blaak Sow for the roles she plays in the EU countries on behalf of her country Uganda.

Dear desperate Ugandan youth, it is time to you sober up. Let’s have some things right. Uganda is not a member of the European Union.

The European Union consists of 27 member states which are signatories to the founding treaties of that union.

The relations between the EU and Uganda are mainly based on aid to development and trade meaning that they are our development partners.

Therefore, the main aim of the EU in Uganda would be to concentrate on the shared goals and help one another for the prosperity of our people. They are not here to dictate how Uganda should be governed and by who.

On your malicious allegations of torture, kidnap, and murder and call for sanctions against Uganda, This is part of your opposition's futile efforts to use the EU parliament's disguised attempt to intimidate our officials entrusted with ensuring the security and well-being of all Ugandans into shirking from their responsibility.

The government officials should therefore remain steadfast in carrying out their constitutional roles despite the opposition's futile threats. Again if the ambassadors you claim visited NUP members were shocked, it should have been them to make a report not you the desperate youth.

You want the EU countries to expel Amb Blaak, expel her for what reason? This is laughable and it exposes ignorance about international relations.

Statecraft is built on state –to- state interests and not based on individual or group emotions like you tried to expose yourself in your email.

The role of an ambassador in a country is to negotiate and disseminate information in order to keep peace and establish relationships with other states which Amb Mirjam Blaak Sow is doing.

There are also well-stated procedures about when and how to expel an ambassador from another country in accordance with the Geneva Convention on diplomatic relations 1961.

Desperate youths! You seem to be lost from what is on the ground in Uganda and your trying to drive your known opposition pressure tactics to blackmail the Uganda government and mislead the EU people by pursuing a narrative that has nothing to do with reality here. It is a shame!

Yours truly

Concerned and sober Ugandan Youth
