WHY UGANDANS SHOULDN’T FALL INTO DELILAH’S TRAP LIKE SAMSON
Samson in his Strong days before he lost his Energy to Delilah
On Saturday 30.10.2021 social media was awash with congratulatory messages for the secretary general of National Unity Platform the biggest opposition party in Uganda David Lewis Rubongoya who had earlier informed the world through his social media platforms that he had graduated with a master of studies in International human rights law at the university of oxford in the united kingdom
The congratulatory and high praising messages from the opposition bigwigs to their colleague who had achieved a master of studies in international human rights law under a dictatorial and oppressing regime reminded me the story of Samson the mighty man of God and the beautiful Delilah in the book of Judges.
The book of Judges chapter 14 talks about Samson who was a Nazirite of God, he was a man who was going to live with the favor of God until death but the beautiful Delilah brought him crumbling to his death.
Judges chapter 16 says; ‘the rulers of the philistines went to her and said, see if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so that we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver.’
The main opposition figures that are always lambasting government have attained success due to the favorable environment accorded to them, the degrees, luxurious cars, well-built mansions and maybe there has been help offered to Mr. Rubongoya in his journey of education by this government.
Sometime back I watched with amusement a video clip of Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu [Bobi Wine] the president of National Unity Platform telling Ugandans that as it happened in Libya with the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, In Iraq with the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, In Sudan with the overthrow of El Bashir it will also happen in Uganda.
Unless Hon Kyagulanyi isn’t well informed or was promised some shekels by the philistines but for his information 10 years after the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi Libya remains trapped in a spiral of violence involving armed groups, sectarianism, and external interference that have led the country into absolute chaos,
After 18years since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein Iraq remains in dictatorship, a civil war, political turmoil and an extremist insurgency and so is Sudan after the overthrow of El Bashir. Such utterances by a person who wants to take over the highest office in the country shows that he is on the same move like Delilah.
Instead of promoting harmful propaganda, the opposition should provide a good environment where every Ugandan citizen will achieve prosperity and spare the country Delilah’s ambitions which will bring destruction and political turmoil. Providing prosperity may not mean supporting the ruling government but being pro people and pro life.
The opposition in Uganda is proving to be pro violence and anti-life. This to me should be punishable. Ugandans however need to keep their eyes open and reject being courted by Delilah like traps that are in Play.
