PDM: A strategy that will Eradicate Poverty in Uganda, MP Magezi Tells Western Uganda

Following sensitizations on
the Parish Development Model (PDM) that have been going on across Uganda, Hon.
Raphael Magezi told the people of Bushenyi that PDM is a government strategy
that is going to eradicate poverty amongst the population.
The sensitization is being carried out by Members of Parliament at the District level and happened in Mitooma and Kyenjojo districts.
In Mitooma District, the MPs for Greater Bushenyi among whom were Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha, led by Gen. Kahinda Otafiire and Hon. Rafael Magezi met with the leaders to sensitize them on PDM and how it will work to benefit the local population.
According to Mr. Karyeija Johnson Benon the Chairman LCV of Mitooma District, the meeting took place at the Mitooma District Hall with 08 MPs of Greater Bushenyi meeting with the District Technical Team, Councilors, security teams, women councils, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and elderly.
Hon. Raphael Magezi confirmed to over 100 people who were in attendance that PDM is a government strategy that is going to eradicate poverty among the population.
He encouraged leaders in Bushenyi to embrace this program as well as help the local population in adopting it in order to improve their livelihood.
PDM sensitization also took place in Kyenjojo in the District Council Hall and was spearheaded by Hon. Tom Butime the Minister for Tourism and Wildlife.
The Minister was accompanied by Hon. Baruku Kabyanga the Minister for ICT and Deputy Attorney General Hon. Jackson Rwakafuzi and the area MP.
The Minister sensitized the RDC, LC5 Chairperson, local leaders, technocrats and other participants on seven pillars of PDM, the concept of the program and roles of different players.
He also emphasized the approach to increase production, processing, storage, value addition, marketing, infrastructure and service delivery at grass roots.
In Kiruhura District, PDM was launched at the district Headquarters by Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, Hon. Bright Rwamirama and Hon. Francis Mwebesa the Minister for Trade Industry and Local Economic Development.
PDM was also launched in Busia District at La Palm gardens by the Minister of Science and Technology Hon. Dr. Musenero Monica Asanza. Hon. John Mulimba the Minister for Regional Affairs and Hon. Auma Nekesa Wandera the Woman MP for Busia were also in attendance.
PDM sensitization will continue to take place across the country and Parish and village leaders will also continue to be trained on how to manage the funds.
