Leaders in Kamuli District were on 13th July 2022 sensitized on how to access safe water in their communities by Evidence Action.
Evidence Action, an NGO with its origin in the US, sensitized Parish Chiefs and Chairpersons in Kamuli District on how they can add chlorine in water to make it safe for drinking.
The team from Evidence Action led by Nandira Barbra conducted a sensitization meeting with stake holders in Magogo, Mbulamuti Town Council on how water sources can be safe by using chlorine dispenser which are meant to be installed at every water point.
According to the team leader Nandira Barbra, the water sources will range from wells to boreholes.
However, stakeholders were concerned about the long-term effects on the population and refilling of the dispenser in case the organization loses interest after five years.
In her communication, Ms Nandira assured them that chlorine has no side effects to the population. She assured them that if properly used chlorine is safe and can help prevent waterborne diseases.
The NGO’s aim is to ensure that the population in rural areas access clean and safe water by using chlorine in order to promote good health and fight against water borne diseases mainly typhoid and cholera.
