Those in opposition political parties are only interested in positions – Besigye

Former FDC leader and four time presidential contestant Dr. Kizza Besigye has sensed doubt in the members of several opposition political parties in Uganda observing that most of them seem more interested in gaining positions than regime change.

Speaking at the sidelines of the ceremony of honoring former DP President Pual Ssemogerere held today, Besigye said that the opposition political parties are no longer capable of causing regime change since their memebers are focused on obtaining certain positions.

He said that the only solution to regime changing is all the opposition actors coming together and front a joint candidate.

However the idea of fronting a joint opposition candidate has remained unrealistic with majority of the parties insisting on fielding their own presidential candidates citing the difference in ideologies.

Besigye’s own party FDC is in the process of selecting a presidential candidate and the party’s spokesperson has made it clear that the party has no intention of joining any coalition especially that led by the National Unity Platform.
